Indianapolis…At a time when many companies are limiting sales resources, Emmis Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: EMMS) today announced it has hired Terry Hardin for the newly created position of senior vice president of sales for the company’s radio division.
“We see this as a critical opportunity. Terry’s leadership will be an important step in delivering the best solutions for advertisers,” said Radio President Rick Cummings. “His history managing top-market stations demonstrates a great understanding of developing winning strategies and adjusting to changes in the business environment. He has successfully and repeatedly grown revenue in a flat-to-down market, and, most importantly, he has repeatedly helped his customers grow their businesses.”
Hardin’s duties will include overseeing sales strategy and execution for the company’s seven radio markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, St. Louis, Austin, Indianapolis and Terre Haute, Ind. His employment begins May 12; he will be based in the offices of Emmis Chicago stations WLUP-FM and WKQX-FM.
Before joining Emmis, Hardin served as vice president and general manager of Spanish Broadcasting System’s WLEY-FM in Chicago. He has also operated his own consulting firm and managed major- and large-market stations for CBS Radio, Clear Channel Communications and Chancellor Media Corporation.
“Emmis has a wonderfully collaborative and innovative culture. I’m looking forward to working with the local sales teams to maximize results and find new ways to create revenue,” said Hardin. “We can leverage this company’s agility to great competitive advantage.”
